Safety systems for ladders and masts

We supply gliding fall arrestors that secure the safe use of ladders and safe climbing on masts and towers. These systems prevent falling off from ladders or from structures. Free fall is limited to a minimum. Vertical safety systems can be installed also on excisting structures.

Safety systems for working on roofs, cranes, bridges and other horizontal structures.

Horizontal lifelines offer an excellent versatile solution for securing people against falling while moving horizontally on roofs, cranes, beams or bridges and other places where there is a need to move in horizontal direction in a fall hazardous situation. Horizontal anchorage systems can be easily installed in places where people have to be able to go round corners or obstacles.

Rollgliss ja Davy rescue equipment

Rollgliss 300 Standard Rollgliss 300 rescue system

For lifting and lowering people for rescue. For lifting purposes Rollgliss can be assembled to work as a pulley. This makes lifting of even heavy patients easy. Lowering the injured can be made with little effort, because the system takes benefit of friction of the rope running over the drum. For a controlled lowering of a patient weighing 100 kg a force of only about 10 kp (100 N) is required.

Rollgliss is an excellent choice for

  • work on masts
  • work in mines
  • seweridge and canal work
  • silo work
  • rescue from telepherics
  • rescue troops and fire brigades in general

Davy Fire Escape serves best as an automatic Fire Escape Descend Device or as a device for lowering patients to safety. Davy Fire Escape maintains a steady descend rate of 1-2 m/s automatically. This is done with a brake mechanism using centrifugal forces for the braking. Many people can be lowered after each other with one device.

Applications where Davy Fire Escape/Rescue Device can be used:

Davy Escape must not be used in places where the level of arrival after the descent is not safe. Work over water or over dangerous machines are examples of such situations.

Recommendations for the selection of fall protection equipment

  1. Use a full body harness always when there is a risk of free fall. Use a work positioning belt only when working on a pole. A simple restraint belt (waist belt) is suitable to prevent access to an area where there is s risk of a free fall only. It is not suitable for arresting a fall.
  2. Attach your lifeline to a stucture directly above you. This anchorage point should be above your waist level. Anchorage point should be able to withstand an impact of 10 kN. Using an inclined rope on a roof as your life line can lead to a risk of falling off roof the because of a pendulum movement bringing you to point directly under the anchorage point.
  3. Keep your life line tight. Loose rope increases the lenght of a free fall and increases therefore the risk of a serious injury in case of a fall.
  4. Retractable fall arrestors are handy and safe on roofs, hanging work platforms and masts. They keep the lifeline (wire or webbing) always tight and stop a free fall quickly and safely.
  5. Make sure that your equipment is in a safe condition prior to each using situation.
