New world record:
Finnish team victorious in pole climbing World Championships in Denmark (9/1996)

The team of Seinäjoen Energia Oy - Energy supplier of the city of Seinäjoki in Finland won the world championship in pole climbing in Odense in September 1996.

This victorious team was equipped with the top of the range electricians safety belts from Suojalaite Oy - Safety Equipment Co. The winning team comprised of Kari Salminen, Kai Raivio, Harri Tynjälä and Teuvo Mäntylä. Jorma Latvatalo was the valuable reserve. Team leader was Ari Luoma-aho. Congratulations! Best time for four men to climb up a pole was the amazing 24,74 seconds!

Contacts from Mexico - Radioamateurs' world assembly (11/1996)

Radioamateurs had their world assembly and competition in Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico. Finland was represented by XF3/OH2NSM, XF3/OH3JF and XF3/OH7XM. Finnish team got over 9000 contacts out of which over 2000 was to the far away homeland Finland. The fall protection of the team was taken care of by Suojalaite Oy - Safety Equipment Co. After a successful participation in the competition the team had earned their sombreros!
